After a marathon consultative process with key stakeholders, the Hon. Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has peacefully resolved the controversy surrounding the sale of a state land at Bai Bureh Road, Kissy measuring 3.1420 Acre.

The piece of land was originally leased to a group calling itself Sierra Leone Muslim Pilgrims Movement (SLMPM) for a period of 99 years.

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning decided to rescind the lease agreement after SLMPM defaulted in the payment of lease rent to the Ministry.

The Ministry sold the piece of land at Bai Bureh Road, Kissy to Randlyn Holding (a property developer) for US$200,000. Randlyn Holding is owned by popular businessman Haj Fawaz.

When confusion broke out over the sale of the property to Haj Fawaz, members of the Muslim community prevailed on the government to amicably resolve the matter.

In his wisdom, the Hon. Vice President held several consultative meetings with the Ministry of Lands, the Ministry of Social Welfare, representatives of the Sierra Leone Muslim Pilgrims Movement and representatives of Randlyn Holding.

The Hon. Vice President has concluded that, the sale of the property to Randlyn Holding be annulled and efforts should now be made by SLMPM to regularize ownership of the land and the government will assist in that direction.

In an official statement issued by the SLMPM over the weekend, the Movement said, โ€œWe therefore extend our sincere appreciation to the Honorable Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and to the Honorable Minister of Lands for their timely and judicious intervention. The Ministerโ€™s impartial directive affirming the Sierra Leone Muslim Pilgrims Movement as the rightful custodian of the property demonstrates a steadfast commitment to justice, fairness, and institutional integrity. His clear stance has reinforced the publicโ€™s confidence in the Governmentโ€™s ability to protect lawful ownership and defend community interestsโ€.
