Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu has taken proactive steps in Kailahun District following the unfortunate arson attack on the local police barracks.
His visit came after participating in the two-day National Council of Paramount Chiefs Conference held in Bo City. Upon arriving in Kailahun, IGP Sellu assessed the damage at the police barracks and then addressed police personnel, encouraging them to uphold their professionalism and dedication despite the recent challenges. He reaffirmed that the leadership of the Sierra Leone Police remains committed to enhancing their operational capabilities.
In a meeting with community leaders and residents, IGP Sellu emphasized the need for peace and collaboration between the police and the public to avert similar incidents in the future. He urged all involved parties to unite in fostering peace, security, and public safety throughout the district.
The engagement also saw the Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region, ACP Joe Kamanda-Bongay, who requested community support for law enforcement. He highlighted that enduring peace can only be realized through strong teamwork between the police and the communities they protect.
Community representatives expressed their gratitude for the IGPโs visit, commending the Sierra Leone Police for their outreach during this challenging time. They committed to continuing their support in promoting security, peace, and development in the district.
