The Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police William Fayia Sellu has been working accidiously to revitalise long abandoned police garment factory in Kingtom.

During his recent visit to provinces, on a sensitisation tour about the transition of the Sierra Leone Police from force to service.

The IGP pleaded with police personnel to be a little patient as very soon they will be supplied with brand new sets of high-quality uniform package, which will include head rests, uniforms, ranks, and boots which was procured by President Bio’s lead government.

He said some of the containers are now in country while the rest will arrive soon, after which distribution will commence evenly.

He, however, confirmed that they are at an advanced stage in completing the Sierra Leone Police Germent Factory, which will now be providing uniforms for police officers as it used to be in the past.

“This move will scale down a lot of financial and bearucratic burden on government as we can stop the importation of uniforms at a higher cost which we can handle at a more moderate cost, and we have the capacity to do same for other government institutions”. IGP said.

Notably, the sewing of police uniforms, which is set to be managed by the garment factory at Kingtom Police Barracks, will reduce the financial strain on officers who previously had to sew their uniforms externally.
