The President of the Police Wives Association, Mrs. Matilda Doris Sellu, on Saturday, convened a strategic meeting with Mammy Queens, representing various police barracks across the country. The meeting took place at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy in Hastings.
The engagement focused on planning and coordination ahead of the Associationโs forthcoming annual outing, slated for 13th December 2025 at Sugar Land, Freetown.
Mrs. Sellu disclosed that preparations for the event are already well underway, with tickets printed and the venue secured. She urged the Mammy Queens to take responsibility for ticket distribution and sales, emphasizing that free transportation, accommodation, and feeding will be provided for participants travelling from the provinces to attend the celebration in Freetown
Highlighting the associationโs commitment to womenโs empowerment, Mrs. Sellu recounted that proceeds from the 2024 Police Wives Carnival were disbursed nationwide through a microfinance scheme, supporting police wives in starting or expanding small businesses.
She further encouraged the Mammy Queens to hold regular meetings with their members to foster unity and strengthen the associationโs network across police barracks.
During the interactive session, several Mammy Queens commended Mrs. Selluโs pragmatic and visionary leadership describes her as one of the most dynamic presidents in the history of the association. They pledged their unwavering support towards the growth and success of the Police Wives Association.
The meeting concluded with the distribution of tickets and a group photograph, marking the end of a fruitful engagement at Hastings.
