Today 8th September 2025, Commissioner Joseph Maada Lahai of the National Youth Commission (NAYCOM) paid a courtesy visit to Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), at the NaCSA headquarters in Freetown.
Accompanied by his delegation, Commissioner Lahai was warmly welcomed by Ambassador Ndomahina, who congratulated him on his recent appointment and emphasized the importance of inter-institutional partnerships for national development.
The meeting highlighted the significance of strengthening existing partnerships and fostering new avenues for dialogue and cooperation between NAYCOM and NaCSA. Both parties pledged firm support, particularly towards the Productive Social Safety Net and Youth Employment Project (PSSNYE), a flagship program aimed at addressing Sierra Leone’s youth unemployment crisis with $40 million in funding from the World Bank. This project seeks to support 8,000 young people across major cities, including Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni, and Port Loko, by developing youth-led household enterprises.
Ambassador Ndomahina praised NAYCOM’s crucial role in advancing youth development in Sierra Leone and assured Commissioner Lahai of his personal and institutional support.
Commissioner Lahai reaffirmed NAYCOM’s commitment to partnership and collaboration, highlighting the PSSNYE project as a key area where both institutions’ mandates align.
Both commissioners emphasized the need for effective and sustained collaboration, moving beyond formalities to impactful and actionable partnerships.
The courtesy visit demonstrates the commitment of both NAYCOM and NaCSA to work together in advancing youth development and promoting national stability and prosperity. Through joint efforts, the two commissions aim to create enhanced employment opportunities for young people throughout Sierra Leone.
