The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), in its continued effort to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and support partner institutions, has trained ten (10) personnel of the Sierra Leone Immigration Department (SLID) on the proper handling and use of communication handsets.
The training was held at the Senior Officersโ Mess, Kingtom, Freetown, and was aimed at equipping the selected SLID personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively operate communication handsets during patrols and other operational duties.
In her opening remarks, the Head of Sierra Leone Police Communications, CSP Cecilia Akibo-Cole, welcomed the participants and emphasised the importance of properly handling and using communication equipment in the execution of official duties.
She encouraged the trainees to take the training seriously and ensure that the handsets are used responsibly and strictly for their intended operational purposes, particularly during field duties and patrols.
The Director of Operations, AIG John Martin Senesie, who represented the Inspector-General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu, said the training was part of the SLPโs continued support to partner institutions to strengthen their operational capacity.
AIG Senesie said the initiative was designed to provide the selected SLID personnel with the necessary skills to operate the communication handsets effectively while carrying out their operational responsibilities, including patrol duties.
He urged the trainees to apply the knowledge gained responsibly and professionally in the field.
AIG Senesie also expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation between the SLP and SLID, noting that such capacity-building initiatives help to strengthen institutional partnerships and improve operational effectiveness.
