His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority, on Monday, 17 November 2025 presided over a high-level open debate at the United Nations Security Council Chamber focusing on Threats to International Peace and Security-Conflict-Related Food Insecurity.
This debate serves as the principal signature event during Sierra Leoneโ€™s tenure as President of the Security Council for November. It explores food insecurity both as a driver and consequence of conflict, underscore the imperative to prevent starvation as a method of warfare, and promote pathway to resilience, agricultural recovery, and accountability.
In his Facebook post, President Bio said. โ€œAs President of the United Nations Security Council, I am presiding over this high-level debate as we address the critical issue of Threats to International Peace and Security: Conflict-Related Food Insecurity.โ€
