The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), James Bagie Bio, is currently in Marrakesh, Morocco, participating in the 93rd General Assembly of INTERPOL He is part of a delegation that includes senior officials of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), attending the high-level meeting to strengthen cooperation and chart a future strategic direction for global law enforcement.
In recent months, the SLRSA, working closely with the SLP, has intensified efforts to curb vehicle-related crimes, including cracking down on stolen vehicles and preventing their registration in the national database.
While in Marrakesh, ED Bio is expected to contribute meaningfully to discussions focused on combating transnational crime, counter terrorism, and enhancing global security coordination.
Addressing delegates at the opening ceremony, INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi welcomed participants and thanked the Kingdom of Morocco for hosting the conference. He highlighted the growing challenges of organised crime, cyber crime, and terrorism, noting that no region is immune to these threats.
He further announced the launch of INTERPOL’s new strategic framework, developed through wide consultations with member countries and partners. The framework outlines four new strategic goals that translate INTERPOL’s vision “Together against crime”and mission “To connect and empower global law enforcement for a safer world” into practical priorities
The General Assembly will also deliberate on strengthening international information-sharing mechanisms and elect a new president and members of the Executive Committee.
