A significant boost for the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) came today as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu welcomed a donation of ten motorbikes from the Turkish Government through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA). This initiative aims to enhance the operational capacity of the SLP.
The donation ceremony, held on Wednesday, saw IGP Sellu thank Turkey and TiKA for their vital support, emphasizing how the motorbikes will improve police mobilityโcrucial for effectively addressing security challenges and engaging in community policing.
IGP Sellu recognized Turkeyโs ongoing commitment to the development of the SLP. He reflected on a recent meeting with Turkish Ambassador His Excellency Yusuf Bukar Rende, during which Turkey, through TiKA, also facilitated a training program for SLP personnel. He noted these efforts as clear evidence of Turkeyโs dedication to the professional growth and operational proficiency of the police force.
The Police Chief assured both the Ambassador and the Turkish Government of the SLPโs commitment to fostering ongoing cooperation. He affirmed that the motorbikes will be used strategically to enhance mobility and operational efficiency, especially in areas requiring swift action.
