Arrest Warrant For Drug Baron

Abdul Kamara alias Bigitel, Ishmail Koroma a Teacher and Sallieu Bangura are presenting standing trial before Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens at NASSIT Court in Freetown for allegedly being found in possession of Kush, cannabis sativa weighing 15.8 grams without lawful authority.

When the matter was mentioned in court on Tuesday, 18th March 2025, all three accused persons were absent including their sureties.

The accused were granted bail by the learned Judge on humanitarian grounds after an application for bail was made by defense counsel Claudius Campbell.

According to Justice Steven, he’s got information that the first accused Bigitel wanted to leave the jurisdiction and that is why he and his sureties did not show up.

Based on their absence the learned Judge issued a bench warrant for the arrest of all the accused persons and their sureties. He further ordered that the house of Abdul Kamara alias Bigitel situated at No. 3d Kamanda Farm, Mamba Ridge, Kissy, Freetown should be confiscated by the state and the tenants should be evicted immediately until he appeared before the court.

Justice Steven further ordered the bailiffs at the Undersheriff Office to effectively empower and enforce the said Order. The matter was adjourned to the 21st March 2025.

The accused were arraigned before the court on seven counts ranging from possession of prohibited drugs without lawful authority. The indictment states that the accused on Saturday, 23rd September, 2023 at Mamba Ridge, Kissy in Freetown, were found in possession of one hundred and eighty-one wraps of Kush weighing 20.0 grams without lawful authority and were also found in possession of two hundred and seventy-eight wraps of Kush weighing 152.6 grams without lawful authority.  The indictment furthered that the accused persons were found in possession of thirty-six sachets of Kush weighing 20.5 grams and seventy-six wraps of cannabis sativa weighing 25.6 grams without lawful authority.

The indictment also states that the accused persons were also found in possession of a loose quantity of cannabis sativa weighing 15.8 grams, a high-risk drug to wit one sachet of Ecstasy weighing 20.2 grams and eight sachets of Kush weighing 17.6 grams without lawful authority.

The accused were granted bail with one surety each. The Judge ordered that each surety must sign a bail bond of fifty thousand new Leones, not to be paid but as a guarantee.

The Judge further stated that each surety must carry an authentic national identification card issued by the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA).
