The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba has debunked rumours making the rounds on social media that Sierra Leone is among 41 other countries proposed for a possible United States visa restriction or travel ban. He described the report as inaccurate.
Minister Kabba said the government has not been officially notified by the US Government of the existence of any such list and that the list under review was only reported by the New York Times newspaper and circulated on social media.
He furthered that in as much as the government does not lend credence to the list, he however recently discussed the issue with the United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, David Bryan Hunt, who assured him that the list is not a US States Department document.
The Foreign Minister assured that visas are still being issued to deserving applicants traveling from Sierra Leone by the US Embassy in Freetown as it used to be.
