Hawa Hunt Writes First Lady

On the 1^st March 2025, First Lady Fatima Maada Bio pleaded with the Sierra Leone authorities via Facebook to drop all charges against Hawa Madiana Hunt for posting indecent and unprintable words against her and President Bio on social media.

On Wednesday, 4th March 2025, Appeal court judge Justice Tonia Barnett discharged Hawa Madiana Hunt, who was dragged to court for cybercrime against First Lady Fatima Bio and President Julius Maada Bio. She also ordered that both her Canadian and Sierra Leonean passports should be returned to her.

Hawa Madiana Hunt was before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 after the state prosecutor, Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq. led two Prosecution witnesses and the file was committed to the High Court.

Court of Appeal Judge, Hon. Justice Tonia Barnett, has discontinued the matter between THE STATE Vs HAWA HUNT. The Director of Public Prosecutions, through his State Counsel, Yusuf I.Sesay, applied for a discontinuance of the matter, citing Sec. 66(4)(c) of the Constitution.

Upon her release from the Female Correction Center, Hawa Madiana Hunt wrote a passionate letter to First Lady Fatima Maada Bio on her Facebook page (see letter below).Dear First Lady Fatima Maada Bio

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your compassionate and courageous intervention in pleading for my release. I fully acknowledge the gravity of my mistakes and am committed to learning from them. Your exemplary leadership and nurturing spirit inspire me deeply, and you serve as a remarkable role model not only to me but to many.

I quote “bad bush nor dae for troway bad Pekin,” you have exemplified the true essence of a mother of the nation. Your steadfast support and understanding are deeply appreciated, and I assure you that I am committed to ensuring such actions are not repeated

I also sincerely pray that Allah accepts your fasting and sacrifices during this holy month of Ramadan as you took the bold step to speak on my Release.
