On February 6, the inaugural U.S.-Sierra Leone Defense Country Coordination Meeting (CCM) opened at the Army Headquarters, Cockerill Barracks in Freetown. This two-day meeting brings together stakeholders from the United States Armed Forces and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces to discuss defense cooperation priorities for the coming years.
Representatives from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), U.S. Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF), and Southern European Task Force Africa (SETAF) joined their Sierra Leonean counterparts for discussions on security collaboration.
During the opening ceremony, U.S. Ambassador Hunt highlighted the significance of this gathering, calling it a milestone in the shared commitment to a more secure, prosperous, and resilient partnership. Through open dialogue and strategic planning, both nations are working together to address challenges and seize opportunities to ensure long-term security and stability that will benefit Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the United States.
