Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has intervened to mediate concerns between the management of Koidu Government Hospital and the local Muslim Jamat over the proposed demolition of a mosque located on the hospital grounds. The removal of the structure is intended to clear the way for a major expansion of the healthcare facility.
During the engagement, Vice President Jalloh encouraged both parties to prioritize open dialogue and work toward a peaceful resolution. He emphasized that the intervention aims to foster effective communication, allowing the vital development of the hospital to proceed while fully respecting the religious needs of the local community.
Both the hospital management and the Muslim Jamat expressed their strong support for the development and modernization of the hospital. Discussions between the stakeholders focused heavily on establishing a clear transition plan, specifically regarding the securing of an alternative place of worship for patients, staff, and visitors while the new infrastructure is built.
Following the deliberations, Vice President Jalloh conducted a physical assessment of the hospital grounds, inspecting the current mosque earmarked for demolition alongside an alternative mosque located about 100 meters away. The nearby structure is being considered as a viable option to support the community during the transition phase, ensuring that local religious harmony is maintained alongside civic development.
