The countdown has officially begun for the first-ever West Africa Integration and Investment Summit (WAIIS) 2026, with just 15 days to go until the main event and 12 days until the pre-summit sessions kick off.
Organized by H.E. President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, this high-profile economic gathering is set for November 16 to 18, 2026, at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre. The summit aims to tap into an impressive $180 billion investment opportunity in the West African market, targeting a consumer base of over 450 million people.
What sets WAIIS 2026 apart is its focus on actionable outcomes rather than empty promises. During a recent stakeholdersโ€™ meeting in Aberdeen, Freetown, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, the Special Envoy for WAIIS 2026, made it clear that the summit is designed as an operational investment platform rather than a pledging session. The goal is to translate high-level regional discussions into real, job-creating projects that uplift local economies.
The summit will revolve around four key pillars aimed at fostering economic integration and sustainable development: boosting regional energy trade and green industrialization, tapping into strategic minerals along the Mano River corridor, revolutionizing agribusiness through targeted rice cultivation, and advancing digital transformation across borders.
To bridge the crucial gap between policy and capital, specially curated deal rooms will be in place, managed by Chief Operating Officer Joseph Nganga. These spaces will facilitate direct connections between project owners and international business executives, sovereign wealth funds, and development finance institutions to seal contracts. To ensure long-term accountability, all signed agreements and capital flows will be monitored through a public investment scorecard well beyond the conclusion of the summit.
